Bishop Henry McClee Joyner, Sr.

Bishop Henry McClee Joyner, Sr. is the founding Pastor of Christ Church of Rockville Ministries. He is known and respected nationwide as a dynamic preacher, Biblical expositor, anointed teacher, and anointed man of God.  He is well-known for his counseling, encouraging, enlightening ministry and is a sought after speaker for conferences, retreats, seminars, workshops and men's mentoring. Through the outflow of the power of God, we have witnessed the restoration of marriages, the return of the backslider, healing, and reconciliation of relationships.

Pastor Joyner accepted Christ at the age of 23 at Bible Way Church in Washington, DC.  In 1974, he was ordained an Elder.  For the next seven years, Pastor Joyner served as Assistant Pastor of Refuge Church.  In October of 1980, after fulfilling a speaking engagement for Bishop Settles at Norbeck Community Church, Silver Spring, MD, Pastor Joyner was asked to become their pastor.  Because the people wanted a 'preacher' and not a 'pastor', Pastor Joyner resigned in May 1984 and founded Christ Church of Rockville, Inc.  He was consecrated to the office of Bishop in May 2004.

Bishop Joyner served on the steering committee of the Mid Atlantic Leadership Conference for many years.

Bishop Joyner was educated in the public schools of Wilson, NC.  He attended Washington Bible College, Evangelical Training School and completed correspondence courses at Liberty University.  He received his Bachelors of Biblical Studies (2010) and his Masters of Ministry (2012) from Kingdom Builders Biblical Institute.

Born the second son of Deacon Obbie & Gladys Joyner, Bishop Joyner was raised in the church.  He jokingly says 'I went to church nine months before I was born'.  Celebrating fifty years, Bishop Joyner has been married to the love of his life, his childhood sweetheart, the former Carolyn Thorne.  He is the proud father of two children and seven grandchildren, who are a vital part and actively involved in the vibrant and life-changing ministry Christ Church of Rockville Ministries 'a church that's not casual about Christ!'
